Philosophy and Learning Approach

Traditional Land Owner Acknowledgement:

“We Mawson Lakes Community Early Learning acknowledge that the land on which we meet is the traditional land of the Kaurna people and we respect their spiritual relationship with their country. We recognise the Kaurna people as the traditional custodians of the Adelaide region and acknowledge the importance of traditional culture and heritage to the Kaurna people of today.”

“Children pose a hundred ways of thinking, of expressing themselves, of understanding and of encountering others, with a way of thinking that creates connections between the various dimensions of experience rather than separating them.” (Reggio Children p.10)

Vision

With a loving caring learning environment, we offer a ‘sense of home’. Where children can learn hand in hand within their world, helping build strong and capable citizens.

Philosophy

Our Children’s Voice

Mawson Lakes Community Early Learning is Reggio Emilia inspired. We believe in the rights of the child and that each child is important, competent, and a capable citizen. At our centre children can feel that they belong and can develop and learn at their best.

We offer the opportunities to learning within nature, through play giving children the opportunity to investigate hypothesis, and take risks.

We believe the connections between educators and children are fundamental as educators and children learn together, offering support, guidance, and a safe base to return to when needed.

Our routines, environments, learning experiences and documentation are all developed to foster and reflect our believes and are guided by the National Quality Standards and the Early Years Learning Framework.

Our Parent’s Voice

Our centre is a not for profit, community based early learning centre. We are over seen by parents, volunteering their time to make up our management committee. As a community-based centre, we acknowledge the importance of and embrace our diverse community.

We pride ourselves on the long lasting partnerships and relationships developed between Centre/Educators, Families and children. Our families and their roles are respected and supported as we strive to offer the best quality care to all children.

By working with children and creating settings we encourage care and education that embraces nature. It includes the educational environments we create, the process of assessment and planning, and the learning journeys that we encourage children and families to take throughout childhood.
